Pre-action Systems
These systems are usually specified in areas where accidental activation should be avoided eg. Museums - or where water discharge would create operational issues eg. cold rooms. In 'single interlock' systems a prior detection event is required (such as a smoke detector activation) to convert the low pressure dry system to wet and reduce the delay in water distribution (which is the downside to dry-pipe systems). A 'double interlock' solution is similar to a deluge system but includes automatic sprinkler heads. This system requires both a prior fire detection event and an automatic sprinkler activation before the water is delivered to the pipework.
