Our Sustainability Journey
Alpine is dedicated to taking action to reduce our annual emissions and achieving Net Zero emissions by 31st March 2045, five years earlier than the UK Governments target.
We aim to deliver safe, sustainable and resilient fire protection systems for our clients, while also leaving a lasting environmental, social and economic legacy.
Being responsible and acting with integrity has always been at the heart of what we do.
To this end, we have identified six sustainability areas to focus on, please read below to learn more.

Alpine’s Sustainability Focus

Carbon and Climate Change:
Alpine recognise that individual decisions collectively impact the environment and are committed to reducing our carbon footprint to help contain global warming to 1.5 degrees, as outlined by the IPCC. We have commissioned a Net Zero roadmap to reduce emissions across our UK operations and supply chain. Our goal is to become Carbon Neutral by 2030 and achieve Net Zero by 2045.

Environmental Impact
We are dedicated to environmental stewardship and continuously improving our environmental performance. Our Environmental Management System (EMS), certified to ISO 14001:2015, ensures we manage environmental risks and opportunities throughout the planning, design, and installation of our systems. Key elements of our EMS include compliance with environmental laws, managing carbon emissions, energy, waste, and water.

Resources, Materials and Circular Economy
Alpine Fire are committed to using resources responsibly, emphasising a circular economy to minimise waste and optimise materials, energy, and water. Our focus includes sourcing sustainably, reducing the whole-life impact of our fire protection systems, and collaborating with suppliers on innovative solutions.

Employee Health, Safety and Wellbeing
Since establishing a wellbeing team in 2018, we have launched various initiatives, including a comprehensive healthcare support service, along with an Employee Assistance Programme. Recognising the potential impact of the pandemic on mental health, we have focused on supporting our employees’ mental and emotional wellbeing since 2020.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) are essential to our success and core values. We foster an inclusive environment through awareness events, including our annual Pride Month celebration. Led by our People Director, our DE&I strategy aligns with our workforce and recruitment goals and is a permanent agenda item at Board meetings.

Community Engagement
We are committed to building lifelong relationships within the communities where we operate. Our community initiatives include sponsoring local sports teams, partnering with local rotary clubs for charity collections, participating in lunchtime litter picks around our office, and supporting employees in organising their own charity events.
Every year in the UK, four billion litres of clean water are lost through mandatory fire suppression system checks.
In partnership with George Eustice MP, The London School of Architecture and Lake District National Park Authority, we are working towards a new sustainable future for our industry.

Our Charity of Choice – Two Brews
Two Brews has been our chosen Charity of the Year since 2022.
They have been on a mission to tackle Manchester’s homelessness issues, and their generous volunteers gather every night in some of the city’s best-known locations to offer hot food and drinks, and warm clothes to those in need. Since the charity started in December 2020, Two Brews has now given out over 100,000 hot meals to the homeless people of Manchester!
The Alpine team selected this humbling charity as it struggles to compete with larger charities for fund raising but has a very real impact every day. We hope to continue to raise awareness for them and offer our support for may years to come.
Through various events, Alpine has raised over £12,000 in support of Two Brews. Several of our team members have also braved the weather to join the outreach team, helping distribute food and drinks.
