Alpine Wanderers take part in charity football event One Stop Cup

On Saturday 2nd July, a few eager Alpine team members entered the One Stop Cup at AFC Darwen, arranged by One Stop Hire to raise funds for the Christie.

It was a fantastic day, and the weather came out to help make the day a great success, it was inspiring to see all the teams taking part, supported by family, friends, and colleagues.

The sunshine was enjoyed by the spectators but not so much our ‘Alpine Wanders’ team as they worked up a sweat, due to both the heat and determination!

Thank you to everyone who took part, you were brilliant and made it so much fun to see everyone outside work, having a laugh, working as a team, and most importantly, bonding.

Alpine Wanders had one win, two draws, and two losses – not a bad first attempt, onward and upwards… we’ve got that trophy in sight for next year…!

Our team has now block-booked a training venue every Thursday to keep playing with new team members stepping forward to get involved after hearing about the day!

Congratulations to Cheetham Hill Construction, who were the eventual winners of the One Stop Cup.

Almost £5000 has been raised so far for Christie, who is a leading expert in cancer care, research, and education, based in Manchester.
