Brief

As the contractor of choice for the new distribution centre for The Very Group they looked to engage a Fire Sprinkler specialist conversant with the challenges that the very latest technology ASRS (automatic storage and retrieval system) were to present. Due to the high-density storage configuration and the complex nature of the racking solution the sprinklers design standard required was FM Global in order to minimise the fire risk to the facility.

Solution

The design incorporated close proximity roof level and in rack sprinklers using over 75,000 strategically positioned heads. In order to deliver sufficient fire protection across the whole of the building two independent pump houses were required - one dedicated to the offices and mezzanines. Alpine delivered an end-to-end solution, including design, project and site management, alongside real time planning in line with project progression. The project was delivered to time, budget and specification.
